The Mixxer - Language Exchange Community for Everyone

Indonesian

a 10-minute language exchange

Exchange experiences in several languages.

Hello folks, how are you?

I understand that sometimes having a conversation might be a little difficult, specially when we all start with the same old questions (I'm not criticing it as I do believe this is the best way to start a conversation and get to know each other). THe thing is, after the first conversation, when we already know each other, our likes and dislikes, our hobbys and so on.... the what's left? For this reason I'd like to propose a different chat. Let's gather together to talk about different themes.. What do you think about the end of the world in 2012? Is it scientific proved that if the yellowstone volcano erupts its ashes will cover the entire atmosphere and we will all die? How do you use your facebook to grown in knowledge and culture?

Let's do different.. Together let's try to learn new things and also have the chance to improve our foreign language. Togther we can do it.

Remember, we are here to share. That means help and been helped. If you are interested, either in one on one conversations or conferences, please add me to skype. The more friends we gather the better it will be. But remember, we are here to help and being helped. If you are not willing to speak in your native language too, don't bother joining us.

Thanks

Fernando

So many registered and nobody to talk to

I get many emails from Mixxer from all kinds of people wanting to learn all kinds of languages. Paradoxically, I never received yet a invitation from someone wanting to invest some time to help me to learn the language I am interested in, which is Bahasa Indonesia in exchange for help in learning English.

That is amazing. there is 240 million Indonesians. Most of them want to learn or improve their English. I am offering my time to help and there is nobody serious enough to take my offer.

I normally use wordchamp to study Indonesian myself. That is very useful yet nothing will replace the live talk with the native speaker. There are plenty of young Indonesian boys and girls that join wordchamp once and then they never come back. Well, learning foreign language requires a lot of serious study and lot of commitment and time.

Will I ever be lucky enough to find a serious and committed partner for my study?

故事接龍遊戲. A Storytelling Activity

Let's take a look at the picture. We can write a short or a long sentence with your native language and English( via Google translate), to describe these keywords" who, what, when, where" or even " why, how, how much", use your imagination!!

I wrote a short sentence starting at the beginning, Anyone want to try connecting next? Let's get to finish a common script. Here we go.

For Japan

This is too emotional for me
to be able to translate into another language, and I apologize if you don't
understand it.

I'm sure many of you have
heard of the earthquake and tsunami that happened in Japan. It was devastating and now
there is a declared state of emergency because the nuclear power plants
that are running on backup. It’s a race against time. People are missing
families and there are homes and roads that have been completely destroyed. The
city is in ruins.
