敬語は他のアジア言語（中国語・韓国語・タイ語やヴェトナム語その他）と同様に日本語の主な特徴のひとつです。

敬語には主に尊敬語と謙譲語の二つに分類される。

尊敬語は他の人に使われ、謙譲語は自分自身に使います。

話しかける相手によってこの二つを正しく使い分ける必要があります。

敬語を正しく使い分けれれば、もうあなたは日本語上級者間違いなしです。

Japanese ‘Honorifics’: Respect & Humble terms

Honorifics or honorific language (Keigo) is one of the main characteristics

of Japanese language similarly to other Asian languages (Chinese, Korean, Thai & Vietnamese, etc.)

Honorifics are principally divided into two types; respect or exalted terms

are used for others, while humble terms for yourself.

You need to choose the right terms between the respect and humble terms depending on the person whom you speak to.

You will surely be qualified for an advanced speaker of Japanese if you can use honorifics properly. Stick to it !
