I don’t know why, this song by Bob Marley has been on my mind a lot lately, especially its first verse. It’s probably all the killing going on in the world right now, especially in Syria, that reminded me of it because I haven’t actually listened to it in years. The reason I specify Syria is because I spent nine months over there studying Arabic, that I have very fond memories of that country and its people and that it sometimes brings me on the brink of tears to see what’s happening to it.For probably the same reason, I felt like translating or at least trying to translate this song into Arabic. This is just an attempt since I am a native speaker of neither English nor Arabic. Corrections and comments from anyone proficient in both languages are welcome.

(1) I guess it’s pretty obvious to anyone who speaks English that this sentence is not Standard English. I’m guessing this is Jamaican patois but I’m really not sure, maybe someone can shed some light.

(2) This should normally read « It’s what the Bible says », shouldn’t it?
(3) This sentence takes a very special resonance when I think of this anti-Assad fighter who posted a video of him eating the liver of a Syrian soldier!
