Je peux lire le français assez bien (je lis Le Comte de Monte Cristo pour le moment), mais ont de faibles habiletés de conversation en français. Je vis au Danemark, donc je suis aussi sur le même fuseau horaire que la France, et je suis disponible presque en tout temps pour une conversation Skype. Je suis un mâle américain, sans un fort accent et je suis ouvert à toute personne pour partager une conversation.

In my ongoing efforts to become proficient with French I'm noticing how much more difficult it is to get a hang of understanding the spoken language than the written language. I assume that this is true to some extent with any language but I think it might be more true for french because of the fact that french has so many silent letters and words that are run together. What has learning a new language been like for you?
(Je essayerai traduire sans dictionair, allors je m'excuse pour tout les fauts et je serais heureuse pour tout les corrections. Rather than looking up the correct translation I've tried to adapt what I do know to express the ideas. Merci)

Je suis en train de apprendre le frainçais et quelque chose que je vois est que c'est plus difficil pour moi comprendre le français parlé que le français écrit. Peut-être c'est le cas pour tout les langues mais je crois que c'est plus vrai pour le français parce que elle a beaucoup de le lettres qu'on ne sonne pas et les mots qui n'est pas séparé fortement. Et vous? Comment va vos apprentisage de langue?

I just want to make a general suggestion to the community here, hopefully without comming across as too pushy or preachy. It seems to me that there are a lot of posts from people seeking comments and corrections that don't get any response at all. As a learning/teaching community we are the only ones that can fix this. Here's my suggestion: whenever you make a post seeking feedback from others also seek out two other posts that you can make helpful comments/corrections to. Helping two others will help compensate for (1) the people who just won't help others (2) the fact that some language pairs are going to have more people trying to learn on one side than the other.

Je veux donner des conseils general á les gens ici. J'espere que ce n'est pas trop arriviste. Je pense que il y a beaucoup de posts de gens qui cherche pour notre avis et corrections et reçois de rien. Parce que nous sommes un group de les etudiants et les éducateurs c'est seulement nous qui pouvons ce réparer. Ici est ma avis. Quand vous écritez une poste aussi cherchez pour deux postes pour aider. Aider deux autres pour compenser pour (1) les gens qui ne vont pas aider les autres (2) le fait que il y a des langues qui ont plus de les etudiants que les éducateurs.

français: my progress so far...
Salut. J' espere apprendre le francais mais c'est plus difficil que j'ai pensé. Je suppose que je puis ecrire un petit peu... et je puis parler et comprendre un petit peu aussi. Mais, c'est encore trés difficil comprendre quel j'entends par les podcasts (j'ecoute les podcasts pour practiquer). En fait j'ai déja écrit avec un autre mec par skype et il étais trés difficil pour moi donc c'est clair que je ne suis pas prêt a parler. Alors, je pense que je doit continuer écouter tout les jours et je doit essayer garder le joie d'apprentissage. Bonne chance pour votre apprentissage!

Bonjour á tout! J' ai etudier le francais en école mais il a etait plus de dix ans pendant (en anglais "since"). Alors mon français n' est pas bien. J'espere que il ne va pas être trop longtemps pendant je peut parler mais c'est difficil reconaitre (je ne pense pas que c'est le mot pour "remember" mais j'oubli et j' essaye utilizer pas un dictionair pour ce "blog") comment on dit quel que chose. En fait je ne attend jamais (c'est "jamais" ou "pas jamais"?) le francais trés bien maid peut-être tôt.
OK, I think that is as much as I can manage right now :-) I'm greatful for any corrections whether they are major or nuanced. It has been a long time since studying french in high-school and honestly I never took language studies seriously then. Now I just want to learn for the fun of it. Well, more specifically I love learning French for it's own sake, but I would also like to be able to speak with french-speakers and I think knowing the language would make travelling in France or Quebec much more fun.
Alors, je doit dire que c'est trés difficil prononcer le lettre "r" avec une accent française. I do try to get it right but I wonder which sounds more strange. Sticking with the wrong 'r' or my best immitation of the french version. Either way at this point I'm mostly talking to myself so it probably doesn't matter that it sounds strange. I wonder, from a native french speaker's perspective when do the phonetics usually go wrong quand les anglophones parle français?
Pour la "blog" prochaine je vais parler (maintenant je sais seulment le "aller+infinitive" futur tense :) ..) de les choses utils "resources" qui je trouve pour apprendre le français "on your own". sur tout j' utilis le podcast "coffee break french".

I have had a amazingly stressful week and hope things can only get better with this new website!
I am originally from St.Helens in England, and moved to Huddersfield to study psychology - then to Manchester and an now an assistant psychologist. It is for children and teenagers with mental health problems. I love it but I also love....
Coffee - and going to cafes with brilliant atmosphere and writing my...
Book! I hope to write a book about a girl with a split personality disorder...
Fittness - I go to the gym and am addicted to the fitness classes, and want to get back on the treadmill soon.
Music is my life - my oxygen. I want to go to much more concerts and live performances including theatre and local bands.
French of course, and have started classes on a Monday night in advanced French as i love traveling! I have been to Paris, Neimes and Champagne so far and one day want to live in Quebec.
I have been feeling as though something is missing in my life recently and hope it can be filled with getting my french perfected. It has a long way to go though.

Bonjour & hello!
I'm an Australian living in France, so I'm here trying to practise my French. Je suis Australienne et je habite en France. Je voudrais practiquer mon français.
I noticed straight away that there wasn't a group for anyone wanting to swap between these two languages, so I've started one here called French-English which will hopefully fill up with people interested in conversations of French-English or English-French. :)
J'ai remarqué tout de suite qu'il n'y avait pas un groupe pour qui veut espace d'échange entre ces deux langues, donc j'ai commencé un appelé ici French-English qui, espérons-le plein de personnes intéressées par les conversations des français-anglais ou anglais-français. :)
