Nowadays, we
all know how much we weight, how much we earn, how much we save or even how
much we get into debt. However, there is a figure which we don’t know: how much
emissions are we responsible for?
I think the
main reason for this ignorance is that society hasn’t found any way to
demonstrate a citizen, how much he or she, individually is contributing to
global warming.
This is
something that must be over.
First of all,
citizens must figure out the relationship between generating CO2 and global
warming. If all the products were labelled with the CO2 rate emitted along the
whole productive process, this would be easier. This already happens with food
and its nutritional value.
Does anyone
know how much carbon dioxide is not generated for commuting by tube instead of
by car? I don’t know. Isn’t it high time for the tube company to provide this
figure?
I suggest to
label all activities and products with their figures of carbon dioxide emitted
easy to understand.
