Welcome newcomers to MIXXER!
I am a member here since almost one year now and I'd like to share an experience I made.

When looking for language partners, doing a profile search and checking members' profiles is just like opening websites after a google search. Imagine: when a showcase of a shop is almost empty, why should anyone enter the shop and talk to the owner?

Spend some effort for your showcase! Make sure you place some more words in your profile, and post at least a first blog written in your target language. But then, you still would sit like a spider on its web and wait. Just as a nicely decorated shop window would wait for customers to pass by and hopefully stop.

My suggestion: start blogging small texts, in English and/or the language you are learning! This will have several positive effects:
- from day one you start writing in your target language, at the level you are able to. It is not only for your own exercise but this way people can have a good guess on your level, at least in writing.
- your texts will get 2 types of comments and reactions, more or less frequently and not always of course. One type reacting on the subject or story you are on about, the other comments trying to help with corrections to your written language.
- after a while, with answering back and discussing, you are likely to win confidence in the language and, what is even better, you'll find friends or language training partners for a "tandem" by mail or skype.

Good luck and see you :-)
