In my last post, I wrote about how to find a language partner.  Hopefully that went well, you've contacted some people on the Mixxer and have agreed on days and times to meet on Skype.  What now?

Explain your's master program and why you chose this field of study for your graduate work

Submitted by Camille B on Di, 09/19/2017 - 09:15

I chose the master "MODE" (data MODelling in Ecology). In this master, we will learn how to use softwares like R, PYTHON (which are very usefull to do statistics for example). We have still many courses of ecology, especially the first year.

About an invasive specie : the Hemlock wooly adelgid

Submitted by CamPil on Di, 09/19/2017 - 04:58

The Hemlock wooly adelgid is a tiny parasite that feed on hemlock trees’ sap, and causes its death. The adelgid has been introduced through Japanese hemlock importation, in North America. This invasion is a catastrophe because it endangers a whole ecosystem. As a matter of fact, hemlocks are what we call foundation specie; which means hemlocks are at the very basis of the ecosystem, determining what lives. Plus some species only live on hemlock trees. Consequently, if we lose Hemlock, we lose a whole ecosystem.

I study Ecology

Submitted by CamPil on Di, 09/19/2017 - 04:48

For as long as I can remember, I have always been interested in nature; I love discovering new things and explore new places to find what kind of animals or plant I will have the chance to see. Recently, I even learned how to dive, because I’m particularly interested on marine biodiversity.
