As the cultural representative, the museum never fails to arouse people’s attention. Many individuals assert that museums should focus on their own states’ artworks, whereas others believe that art galleries should also exhibit the works from other cultures. Personally, I think that museums and art galleries should show both local and international works. This essay will first discuss the necessity of showing local created works and will then discuss the importance of other artworks being displayed.

A national museum or an art gallery, as the one who represents the national highest level art collection, ought to exhibit the works from the local as a majority. This is to say, to show the brilliant cultural and artistic achievements along their own histories is the compelling obligation of those museums and art galleries. Because no one wouldn’t appreciate the works from the local. For example, when people travel to China or other Asian countries and they decide to visit their museums or art galleries, people expect to see the show featuring with their own Asian cultures rather than the staff from western countries.

However, the art has no cultural boundary. To display artworks from other places can significantly enrich the exhibition and show the diversity of arts. This means, including other artistic achievements in the museum is the way to show the variety of the world. Therefore, visitors could experience more and wouldn’t find the show being plain and boring. This is illustrated by an investigation of Chinese University in Hongkong. Up to 73% of the participants should like to learn about other cultures from a visit to the museum.

In conclusion, both local and other artworks have their irreplaceable character, so museums and art galleries should display them all.
