Hi everyone!

I am applying for a internship programme in Japan, and a Motivation Letter within 500words is needed. I am not very good at wrtiting cover letters, but could you at least help me with correct my letter? Just to make sure it is written in proper English...

Thank you very much if you try to correct a part!

To whom it may concern,

I am currently in my first year of a Master's Degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Rennes I in Brittany, France and I am ranking second on fifty-two students. I am highly interested in joining your internship programme in one of the National Institute of Genetics’ laboratories.

I have always been interested in evolution and genetics, and my recent placement in bioinformatics improved this passion. I am fascinated by the way genetics and developmental biology teach us the mechanisms involved in the process of evolution. Moreover, as part of my training, I am going to do an internship at the National Museum of Natural History in Paris. I will study the effects of light on the development of the neuronal system of the cuttlefish (Sepia officinalis) in an eco-evo-devo approach. This work placement will allow me to get closer to this field and discover the work in laboratory.

Taking part in your NIGIntern Programme would be a great chance for me to discover your research, as the NIG is a big laboratory. I would be very enthusiastic and curious to work with one of your team and discover your research methods.

My experience as a tutor taught me to be patient and attentive, which allows me to work in team. Nevertheless, I am very rigorous, due to my experience in a preparatory class, and also able to work alone. I have many technical skills, both in laboratory and on computer and I want to put my knowledge into practise.

Finally, this programme would give me the opportunity to discover your country. Since I was a kid, Japan has always been a fascinating country to me. I would like to learn more about your rich culture and your language, as I started learning it on my own in high school. I already know the first three hundred kanjis, getting the opportunity to learn more is very exciting.

I know you have a large number of applicants to this programme, but if you require any further information about my skills or my training, feel free to contact me, either by email or on the phone number given in my Curriculum Vitae. I will be pleased to answer any of your questions and I hope my work is of an appropriate standard for you internee requirements.

I truly thank you for your time and consideration.

Yours sincerely,

Clementine
