I am currently a student at the University of Rennes 1 in France. My masters is called the International Master of Biodiversity, Ecology, and Evolution (IMABEE). It is a research-oriented master program focused on, as its name suggests, evolutionary ecology.

From very early during my bachelor of science in biology, I was particularly interested in ecology and population genetics. I however did not yet know how to combine the two, as they are two very different fields. During my second year I discovered the fields of conservation genomics and evolutionary ecology. They fascinated me ever since, which is why I searched for a masters which would give me access to a job in either of these fields. This is how I found this master, and why I chose it.

IMABEE being an international master means I will have the opportunity to go abroad for my second year. Our school works together with three other schools (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in the Netherlands, University of Göttingen in Germany, University of Aarhus in Denmark), and I will be able to go to one of them. I would like to go to the University of Aarhus in Denmark, as their program matches me the best.
