THE SHINING

The shinning is a book written by Stiven King an author from United States Of America. The book tells us the sorrowful story of a family which at the head of a father undertake a new journey in order to overcome the growing problems which emerged since Jack Torrence was fired from his job as a professor.

Jack torrence has to live with the shadow of a terrible vice. The alcoholism take him over and become him and aggressive person. Because of this he lashed out at a student in the place he was working as a professor. As a result of this he was automatically fired from his job. In this point start a new life from him and his family. One more time in this part of the book is evidenced the consequences that vices bring to people’s life. One of the repercussions that alcoholism brought to Jack was that he had to applied for a job in which he was not up for it. But, unfortunately he had no any more choices and had to accept that job.

When someone is doing something that he do not want to do it immediately appears alienation and that occurred to Jack. So, jack felt oppressed by his new job and all his past of alcoholism become anger and he vented this anger on his little child. And there Jack was immersed in his own sins trying to avoid what had just done. Jack now is working in a big hotel isolated from the chief cities.  In this new place of work have occurred terrible events. The Jack’s dark shadow comes to light easily when he has to work in a place where wickedness has taken place there. Many suicidal acts took place there, and these affect directly Jack’s family. The appearance of the Overlook hotel let Jack see the cruel that is the new life and everything he will have to deal with.

This begging of this story reflects what many people face when factors such as anger and Alcoholism take place in someone’s heart. But as with all stories and the real life who suffer the consequences of this kind of behaviours are the children those who cannot defend by their self. This part of the story must give us a deep reflection about our behaviour towards our family. The unfortunately events that have happened to others people should be a light of shinning to move towards a better life with those who we love the most.

In conclusion Jack’s story is a clear evidence of what many people nowadays may face because of his erroneous decisions and their bad habits of life. The author of the book Stiven King allows seeing the life of someone that maybe could be his own life. When reading the first part is exciting to imagine what could happen in next chapters. When the shinning of a dark and terrible past of a man struggle with a present even much darker and terrible.

  • Correct way of saying this: "alcoholism MAKES him a bad person."
  • " I BECOME a bad person." When you use the verb "become," it must be conjugated according to the person who is changing/becoming something. Becoming is an action that can ONLY be reflexive (i.e. I do it to myself, or you do it to yourself.)
