Now Japan is in the middle of Tsuyu, which is a Japanese rainy season.
Japanese rainy season is completely different from that in other countries including south-eastern Asian countries.
In above countries, it is said that the rainy season lasts around three months or more, and they often have a violent shower.
It doesn't apply to Japan: Japanese rainy season lasts only about a month, and basically we have not a shower but soft rain all the time.
It is often cloudy when it doesn't rain.
This is why Japanese people don't refer to tsuyu as "a rainy season" even though it is a kind of the rainy season.
In recent years, however, we have sometimes heavy rain which is likely to cause a disaster as the climate is a little weird.
The weather in this year is weird as well.
It seldom rains!
I don't like rain, but it's a quite big deal.
The reason is that if we didn't have much rain in this season, we wouldn't be able to get enough water to get over the hot summer which comes after.
I'm very worried about that. :(
This year, the air temperature is also higher than this season in usual year, so it looks as if it were July.
"Tsuyu" is written as "ume (Japanese apricot) rain" in kanji.
It looks strange because the kanji indicates an ume never be read "tsu".
I tried to search about this, but the reason doesn't seem to be clear.
