This trail event was the most fun. The most Difficult. The most demanding trip I have ever made. I got 2 hrs of trail work done on saturday, 2 hrs on sunday, and 7 hrs on monday.
These are pictures that describe the 95 mile bicycle trip from Bin ghamton NY to Flugertown trail head in catskills NY . My travoy trailer held up well. The new Made in the USA hennessy Hammock was the Hilton of all hammocks. I set it up on ,and it took only 4 minutes to take down...It worked well in the rain on saturday , and showers on sunday. . I never slept so well in any of my Bivys, ultralight tents, or or other gear as well. It was great on m y back. And it weighs in at 2.5 Lbs. I removed at lot of downed trees , branches , and limbs. The trailm is now passable for hikers of mongaup pond that want to do the 7 mile loop. I left about five 2 ft thick downed trees that I could not remove with my axe , and 3 leaners ,
When I got to hancock Ny there were no vacancies at the motel that I wanted to stay at. it was memorial weekend. I pedaled 10 more miles. Then a showers came out of the sky. I sealed all odometers , and heart rate meters. I continued to pedal on. When i found this beautiful little hidden cheap motel in east Branch New York . It has TV , and really nice paintings , and sculptures. It doesnt need wifi , or telephones, but it makes up for it in cost. Friendly , quiet, clean , The Store is at the gas station, there is great fishing in the Delaware River. I was offered Burgers , and I had a great time. There are places to hike nearby,. i liked alices run , and several other clearly marked hiking trails along the Delaware river . lots of waterfoul , to look at and enjoy. I also incuded pictures of my new Primus stove that is ultralight ,more reliable it is safer , quieter, and lighter than my old all fuel, MSR gasoline stove. To my first event I placed the bicycle in storage at the ACE Moving and Storage at Liberty NY . It was at 14 miles of pedaling from Flugertown. One picture was taken on my way back to the Liberty. From htere I to the Bus back home to Binghamton. Now I always have a bicycle ready and waiting for me in Liberty Ny. and the fare is only $20 by shortline . Storage is really cheap for the bicycle. One picture is from the base camp where i hid the food in a tree that was at least 150 feet away from the camp. There are a lot of wild animals. It was nice to sleep in the hammock , and listen to the owl go hu huh huuu all night long, occasion cayoty howl , and unison quire song of the whole pack. The was also the Alfa Male Deer that visited me at 2 am . It was interesting to listen to it mark its territory by its loud snout SHOOO sounds. Then i new I was in its living room. There are two pictures also marking the trail head for the long pond beaverkill ridge trail. This is a yearly event and will repeated next year at approximately the same time.
