I have a Facebook page on some of my effort to learn to recognize and to recall kanji : https://www.facebook.com/kanjirecog
Many of my own app's have been written in MIT Curl, which is now owned by Tokyo SCSK Corp ( www.curlap.com ) - but Curl does not yet support Furigana in "ruby" characters !
Much of the new Curl documentation for "Caede" or KAEDE "maple" app's for Android, Win8 and iOS are in Japanese at their web site.
I am determined to work in Unicode as much as possible and whenever possible, at least in Hiragana.
For many years I taught English as a Second Language so I may be a good match. I even play GO on a wooden GO-BAN with ISHI !
Have you seen the book that has each English noun or adjective beginning with a kanji instead of a Latin character (Eigo no kotoba) ?
I have some ideas of my own about better mnemonics for ON-yomi and kun-yomi ( as we say in English !) kanji "readings" in jukugo.
