Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to give my opinion about the Readalot Book Club. I recently joined because of its book delivery service and I have to say that, even if the information is generally true, I take exception to some of the statements made in the advert.

To start with the good side, volunteers should be congratulated for the wide range and large number of books collected. Also, other readers' commentaries are decisive when picking one's next read and the club's strenuous effort to manage them all is perceptible and very satisfactory.

However, more than half of the sentences in the post are misleading. For instance, it is stated that new members receive three books of their choice for free. Yet, the list of the volumes offered is quite narrow. In addition, the delivery is far from being fast as the advert says. Deliveries are sometimes delayed as long as one week. On top of that, buying books through the club is supposed to be more economical than in shops, but this is only true for old works. Finally, nobody seems to be in charge of answering the phone, since the only thing one reaches to hear is the answerphone.

Some of these problems are easy to tackle. Firstly, there should be more appealing titles in the list of free books, this would truly entice more people. Secondly, the club would benefit from a better organisation regarding deliveries and helpline. And, last but not least, an improvement in dealing with providers should be considered, so as to be able to offer actual advantageous prices.

Having said that, I am conscious that this is all easier said than done, but I am also certain that it is possible to implement the ideas focusing on one at a time.

Yours faithfully,

x
