The base text talks about Malaria which is a tropical disease that is transmitted by mosquitoes when they are sucking humans' blood. In the text, one can see that the cure for Malaria is not known until now, but there are three strategies that can help us fight against this terrible disease. On the other hand, the instructor in the lecture gives us a different point of view on the same issue. Below is a list of some of those points and also a brief description of the details of the strategies spoke before.
The first strategy that the text points has the focus on the disease itself, using medicines to treat infected people with the malaria parasite. But as said in the lecture some old medicines are not useful, so new medicines are needed.
The second strategy in the text focus on killing the mosquitoes that can transfer the parasite to human being. They intend to do this through the use of chemical sprays that seems to be an easy way to combat the malaria disease, but is just effective in adults mosquitoes, and even though, many mosquitoes move to other places when this strategy is not adopted, says the man in the lecture.
The last one focus on the interruption of the mosquitoes' reproduction. In this case, the strategy involves sterilizing millions of male mosquitoes with low-level gamma rays and releasing them into the natural inhabit of the wild mosquitos, second to the lecture this strategy is not harmful to humans.
In conclusion, the text and the lecture go in an opposite way despite the same goal which is fighting against Malaria.
