5. I was deeply influenced by Amy Cuddy’s words in her TED Talk, “Fake it, till you make it.” Whenever I have to try something new, I keep telling myself the first thing I need is confidence, and never be afraid of making mistakes. 6. The best thing I have learned from being an English tutor is realizing the power of encouragement. Most of the Chinese speakers are lacking of confidence when speaking English. However, with patient and lots of encouragement, most of them surprise me with their great performance. Their biggest challenge is to leave their comfort zone, nevertheless, I am glad that I help them to jump out of it and set up a new start. 7. After reading The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas (by Ursula Le Guin), I was motivated to write a 20 pages essays and impelled to make a further study in Utilitarianism. I was deeply impressed with the inequity problems that this world is facing. Since I believe Social enterprises are one of the remedy, I started to get involved in it. 8. After a semester of Film Noir course, I am fascinated with this genre of movies. Although I am an opposite and bright person, I cannot resist the charm of misfortune which is the result of human desperate desire. By studying the blackness of human nature, I think the philosophy of film noir help me with the better understanding of the real society.
