I want to tell you about my experience when my first son was born. I went to the doctor for a 36 weeks pregnancy routine exam, an ultrasound that the doctor had sent to me days before. This day the doctor was late and I was angry because I had to wait for two hours! The nurse suggested I need to calm down, but I was thinking that it was a lack of respect. Even though the delay and my anger, I felt I needed to stay and wait for the doctor, fortunately as I will explain to you here next. When finally the nurse ordered me to come to the doctor’s office, the doctor's assistant took me the test.
Minutes later the nurse saw the results and run with them. I panicked!! I thought something bad was happening with my baby and I was right. Five minutes later, that I felt like hours, the doctor came and demanded me to calm down because my baby was losing heart frequency and my baby would be born this day. The doctor instructed the nurse to call an ambulance, put an oxygen mask on me, and called my family.
The nurse immediately requested me to give my personal information, she took note of my medical insurance and lent me the phone to call my mother. I remembered to call as natural and fresh as I could for my mom could stay calm.
The whole family arrived 20 minutes later! Everybody was there…The ambulance came and took me to the hospital. My husband begged the doctor to save our baby, he was frightener than I was. There in the hospital, a nurse received me and suggested to keep calm again, she took another ultrasound test and told me everything was going to be alright. The time that the surgeon and the surgery room took to be ready was two hours, like an eternity for me. Finally on June 27th, 2005, at 10 pm the surgeon made me the emergency cesarean section and brought a beautiful and special baby boy to my life. Now he is going to be 15 years old, today :)
