For the rational using of medicines, it is first necessary, establish need of the use of the drug. But, due the increase of the pharmaceutical industry, we can see a comum problem in veterinary medicine: the increase of reported cases of drug poisoning. Thus, the aim of this study was to group toxicological characteristics of some of the main medications usually available in the home of tutors, transforming it into a booklet for dissemination to the general public. Made starting read of scientific articles, doctoral and masters theses, final courses theses and book which contained information about the subject, the booklet takes information to the tutor about medicines that can cause intoxication in dogs and cats of one didactic form and with accessible language considering that this is a situation that commonly affects several animals in home environment. The expectation is that with the booklet, reports of cases of drug intoxication in companion animals may decrease gradually.
