My mom had an accident six months before so I called the 911.
The operator requested to know the emergency. I explained to her that my mom cut all the fingers because she took the blender blades when they were still in movement. Then she asked me if she was unconscious and I said that she will be pass out soon because she was losing a lot of blood. I was frightened with all this blood and I thought I will be unconscious soon too. After knowing the emergency, the operator requested my mother’s personal information and the address in order to send an ambulance.
Next, she found an ambulance in the system and confirmed to me that it was on way. I felt as it took an eternity to the ambulance to come here…
While I was waiting I asked her what else I could do because I was desperate! She ordered me to calm down and she instructed me to look for some gauzes and compress the wounds. I looked them up quickly and I remembered the first aid course that I did at the school years before and compressed both wrists like applying a tourniquet. The blood decreases its flow immediately, thank God!
Next, the operator demanded me not to hang up until the ambulance arrives, I guess she thought I could pass out too… And 5 minutes later the ambulance arrived with the paramedics. I thanked the operator because she was really helpful, I hang down and I went to the hospital with my mother in the ambulance.
Now my mother is fine, but the recovery took two months and in this time she couldn’t use her hands at all. It was a very traumatic experience for both of us.
