Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing in regard to your advertisement about the internship in archaeology. I believe that being an intern there would be a fantastic opportunity for me.
I have only one month left of High School, and plan to start a degree in Computer Science in September. I am looking for a chance to gain work experience before then and, if it is possible, to work for a good cause. I am keen on technology and I got an average of ten in IT at school.
I was impressed to read that you welcome a total of nine hundred students from a hundred different countries each year. I admire the fact that it is an international and open-minded project. Besides, I am aware of the importance of archaeology to understand our world and where we come from. Since two years ago, I volunteer as an IT teacher in a school course for elderly people. Not only that, I have also spent long hours learning programming by my own. Concerning archaeology itself, my uncle works at the National Archaeological Museum of Madrid and I have visited every exhibition staged there with great passion. For these reasons I consider myself an ideal candidate for an internship in the IT department.
I attach an application form and CV and insist in saying that I would be delighted to attend an interview. Do not hesitate to contact me if you require further information.
Yours sincerely,
x
