Recent research shows that certain types of bacteria living in the brain are responsible for certain autistic characteristics. This may change the course of studies done in the field which associated autism with neurological disorders. Researchers do not know the exact role played by those bacteria in autism and this may be the next step to persue in increasing the knowledge in the field.
