When you don't know other cultures, you're always trying to be polite, to follow the rules and the good manners.
When you are engaging small conversation, for example in a meeting, the most common topic politically correct to talk about is the weather, an issue completelly impersonal and not intrusive. However what are the good manners to face embarrassing questions about your personal life? Are you morally obligated to answers them? How can I do that person realizes that I am feeling uncomfortable?
Maybe you can give the shorter answer you have, but what if the other persone non stop?
