Most of Japanese people cannot speak English though they have been learning It through junior school, junior high school and University. Japanese are learning English at least for 3years. Why can't they speak English? I think the broblem is due to the way of educating Endlish in Japan. English is one of the most important subject in order to take entrance examination to high school and University. The exam test vocabulary we have, abillity to understand what the problem mean in English and whether we can hear English well so called Listening test. So, first problem of the education of English As you see passage above , Speaking test is not included in the test. And then school in Japan make their students study grammar and English word which is likely to be set on the test. Japanese people have luck of chances of speaking English. That's why they cannot speak English. Second problem is that Japanese people misunderstand the way of learning English. In Japan,So many books for language beginners come out. What I was surprised to see was that if you hear only this CD,you will be able to speak English fluently!. And this CD soon sold out and is in fashion in Japan. But I'm not sure the effect of CD make people be able to speak. They only hear CD and don't practice to speak English. That's also why Japanese people can't speak English. Anyway the best way to learn foreign language is to practice to speak!
