The growth of the pharmaceutical industry encouraged the indiscriminate use of medicines and without prescription of the qualified professional. As a consequence, there was an increase in the number of cases of drug intoxication in dogs and cats, since the use of tutors was extended to their animals. Thus, in order to raise public awareness, a booklet was created containing toxicological characteristics of some of the main drugs usually available in the home of tutors. This was made from the reading of scientific articles, doctoral theses and master's theses, course completion papers and books that contained information on the subject in question. The language is didactic and accessible considering that this is a situation that commonly affects several animals in the home environment and that the majority is not from the health area, thus not knowing the technical terms of the area. The approach was made from the commercial name of the medicines and photo of the product. It is worth mentioning that the use of the labels of the pharmaceutical specialties aimed only at clarifying the availability of these in the consumer market, and did not aim to negatively affect the image of the producing industry. The expectation is that with the booklet, reports of cases of drug intoxication in companion animals may decrease gradually. It is a low cost financial solution to reduce the high number of cases of poisoning of dogs and cats.
