Chizhovka-Arena is a multifunctional indoor arena. It’s intended mostly for concerts, ice hockey and other indoor sporting events. It’s built in park named after the 900th anniversary of Minsk near Chizhovka reservoir.

Belarus applied to conduct World Ice Hockey Championship 2013. In the application Bobruysk-Arena should have been second arena to carry out tournament. But Sweden had won the right to conduct World Ice Hockey Championship 2013, and Belarussian Ice Hockey Federation changed strategy. In new application only arenas in Minsk were applied. After all, International Ice Hockey Federation decided, that World Ice Hockey Championship 2014 will take place in Belarus.

The project of Chizhovka-Arena was changed several times. The final project was approved in July 2010. Officialy Chizhovka-Arena was opened on 25th of December 2013. Canadian experience was considered in project.

Arena has a capacity of 9 500 people. The complex of Chizhovka-Arena consists of the Main Arena, Small Arena and recreational center between them.

The area of the Main Arena is 39 000 square meters. It includes:

·         ice ground

·         stands (with seats for spectators)

·         VIP boxes

·         changing rooms

·         a mall

·         a restaurant

Customers can get to the mall, which is situated on the third floor, by enter special entrance.

To get to stands of the Main Arena spectators can reach both from the first and the top floors.

Main purpose of the Main Arena is conduct sport tournaments. It can carry out:

·         ice hockey

·         short-trek (speed skating)

·         sport games

·         sport fights

·         boxing

·         Olympic weightlifting

·         Gymnastics

Also it can be a concert scene.

The area of the Small Arena is 19 500 square meters. Purpose of it is training professional sportsmen and children. It includes:

·         Ice ground

·         Changing rooms

·         2 aerobics rooms

·         Gym

·         Game room

·         3 saunas

·         A café

The area of the recreational center is 9 300 square meters. It includes:

·         Press center

·         Conference halls

·         2 video view halls

·         Billiards

·         2 restaurants from which you can spectate the Chizhovka reservoir and park named after the 900th anniversary of Minsk. The area of this park is 334 000 square meters. There are line for skiing and rollerblading, bicycle lane, both approximately 1 kilometer length, and different kinds of rides in this park.

The complex has shape of two drops of water streaming into each other. This shape harmonizes with surrounding nature.
