The consumption of a pack of cigarettes per day during a year, it can cause about 150 cell mutations in each single lungs's cell, according to a research of Los Alamos National Laboratory and Sanger Institute. This study, which will be published next week in the science Magazine, it stablishes a direct link amongthe quantity of consumed cigarettes for a person in his life and the number of mutations registered in the cells of different organism of the human body.

"We knew so far that to smoke was associated with some kind of cancer, but what we did not know was what sort of mecanism produced them. What we found was pure evidence that cigarette really makes mutation in diferent part of the body", Ludmil Alexandrov explained . Los Alamos American Laboratory¡s researcher who led the reseach.
