I am writing this letter as my formal application for Conservation Associate’s position, summer 2021. Conservation presents multiple challenges to work ahead especially during climate change. How to connect wildlife habitats in already fragmented territories but also how these connections can bring to humanity a refuge where is possible to reestablish broken linkages between society and nature. This is something that I want to work and learn from The Nature Conservancy. I am an M.S. student in Geographic Information Science (GIS) at Lehman College in NYC. During our lectures and GIS practical exercises, we have read and studied different methodologies to address wildlife connectivity and conservation efforts. But I am conscious that this is not enough. It is working in the field how you can relly integrate spatial theories into more dynamic, complex, and changing conditions. I am confident I am the person to make a positive contribution to your organization. I am a skillful professional in spatial mapping, data management, analysis, visualization, and cartography. I have been trained in map production, layouts, and other graphic products and tools to communicate to the public and scientific community valuable data and results. I present an advanced level and practical knowledge of GIS software tools and applications including ArcGis, TerrSet, QGIS, Geoda, and the application of MS Office Suite. My previous experiences have placed me in cross-cultural and multilingual working environments, willing to endorse such knowledge and uniqueness to the organization. Besides my professional skills, I am resourceful, passionate, reliable, and hardworking who enjoys learning, and constantly pushing myself, thereby bringing excellence to my duties. Additional motivation for applying for this position stems from the fact that I am a person who enjoys outdoor activities as well as always willing to explore and meet new places and people.
