Dear Sir/Madam, I would like to apply for the Associate Medical Writer position. I believe that my set of skills would allow me to perform well in the advertised role and I am very excited about the possibility of being incorporated into your organisation. I hold a PhD in Chemical Sciences and have thirteen years' experience in the writing of scientific articles and research proposals. Writing has always been my passion and that is why I would like to turn it into my full-time job. Since the very beginning of my career, I have striven to improve my writing skills through the constant reading of academic and non-academic publications, as well as through courses on academic writing. For instance, I recently took the “Course on Scientific Writing and Publishing” offered by Nature, the prestigious scientific journal. I am a voracious reader with an ample vocabulary and good attention to detail. One of my strengths as a scientific writer is my broad scientific background. I obtained a BSc in Genetics and then I went on to pursue a doctorate in the field of photophysics. During the last thirteen years I have worked on a wide variety of research topics, ranging from biophysics to inorganic chemistry. I am familiarised with technical terms used in physics, medicine, biology, and chemistry. Consequently, I can easily understand written material belonging to any of these fields. In addition, due to my training as a scientific researcher, I am used to writing texts that are clear, concise, and precise at the same time. I can work both independently and as part of a team. I have a knack for establishing productive professional relationships with my supervisors, my colleagues and the personal that I am meant to supervise. I am well organised and I can meet tight deadlines. Finally, as an Italian citizen, I am legally entitled to work in the UK. I would enjoy an opportunity to discuss my set of skills with you. I can be reached both by email or by phone. Thank you for your consideration. Yours faithfully, X.
