It was a real pleasure to visit Habitat for Humanity office in Paterson last week and be noticed by its caring staff about new open positions with AmeriCorps. I am excited to apply for the Neighborhood Project Assistant position. As a trained field researcher and community engagement worker, this good opportunity fits with my professional experience and goals. My most recent position was as a social researcher at Constru Casa Guatemala, an NGO aims to improve the quality of life among families living in extreme poverty through affordable housing, and community development projects. My efforts focused on identified long-term effects of Constru Casa's social commitments. In addition to developing analytical skills, I collected and processed a large amount of quantitative and qualitative data collected through literature reviews, survey, and field work. This practical experience provided insight to some housing policy challenges of a low-income population. I have collaborated with community leaders, NGO workers, academic experts, and governmental representatives and have conducted survey interviews to a socioeconomically diverse population. These experiences have taught me that my social and communication skills are supported by a positive attitude, kindness, openness, sensitivity, and perhaps most importantly, respect for others. Please allow me to be part of your team and endorse social consciousness and work for the well-being of families with economic and social disadvantages. I want to get this opportunity because goes with my passion and conviction.
