SARS-Cov-2 or the virus associated with COVID-19 is unequally distributed in NYC as of April 13, 2020. Map A) displays the cumulative counts of positive cases. Valuables (# of people positive diagnosed per ZIP code) are represented by circular shapes. The bigger the count, the bigger the size of the circle. Map B) establishes the proportion or the ration of positive cases ( # of people diagnostic with SARS-Cov-2 per 1000 residents). The ZIP codes with darker blue color represent areas with a higher probability of being infected by the SARS-Cov-2. Although ZIP codes located in Corona, Elmhurst, and Jackson Heights (Queens) contains higher values in map A and B, it is interesting to see how the peripherical ZIP codes (Queens, Bronx, and Staten Island) located in the extreme portion of NYC, the opposite side of the center of the city (Manhattan) display higher rate values. It might possible to find a link between peripheric neighborhoods with a higher proportion of immigrants, race/ethnicity diversity, low income, and other social determinants of health.
