Dear X,
I hope this email finds you well. I'm contacting you because we have a couple of problems at home. First of all, our fire alarm started beeping all the time. So, I changed its batteries and after that the beeping stopped. However, I am pretty sure that the alarm is not working properly because it fails to respond if I burn a piece of paper next to it. The "test" button doesn't seem to be working either. In addition, the cord of our shower pull switch snapped and now the shower is permanently on. Part of the base of the shower pull switch lies underneath the Artex ceiling and therefore some of the Artex would break if the base of the pull switch were removed. I want to avoid this at all costs because given the age of the house the Artex ceiling is likely to contain asbestos. So, I was wondering if the electrician could leave the base of the pull switch where it is and just change the part of the switch that is attached to the cord or, better yet, simply replace the cord. I am sending you a photo of the pull switch in the hope that the electrician can bring a compatible part. Would it be possible for you to send us an electrician to fix the aforementioned problems?
Best regards,
Me
