I am sending you a report on the activities that I carried out last week: (1) Localized PL measurements of the metal organic frameworks sent from Spain. The idea was to check if there was some emission arising from the areas that seemed to be devoid of material, since in principle these areas could have contained nanometre-sized structures too small to be seen using the microscope. However, no emission was observed in these areas of the sample. (2) Confocal images of phosphorene samples prepared by X and X. The images that can be obtained using the confocal microscope do not show all of the features that can be seen using X's microscope. As far as I understand, the latter microscope detects mostly reflected light and not emitted light like in the case of the confocal. We are trying to understand why these images are different from each other. Perhaps it is related to the fact that the confocal detects almost exclusively the emission arising from phosphorene (instead of detecting reflected light). However, this does not explain why the CCD camera of the confocal does not detect the light that is being reflected by the black phosphorus flakes. We are working on this. (3) Fitting of the emission spectra of NT4N. I am finishing the fitting of these spectra. The trend in the emission bands seems to be similar for all samples. I will try to send you a brief report as soon as possible. Things to do during this week: (1) Fitting of the emission spectra of NT4N. (2) PL measurements of X's samples. Do you remember that I asked you if I could take two days off at the beginning of March? I would need to take Thursday and Friday off this week. I worked during February 27 (Saturday) and I will work on one of the following Saturdays to compensate for the lost days. Thank you. Kind regards, X.
