Nowadays most people view the promulgation of same-sex marriage laws as a necessary step in advancing the most fundamental human rights. However, is the promulgation of these laws tantamount to an advance in human rights? It is important to remember that legal behaviours can not only be carried out, but also actively promoted. Concerning same-sex marriage laws, such an act of promotion has already been carried out in some states of the United States, where primary school pupils have been asked to read books praising same-sex marriages and homosexuality in general. Similar experiences have taken place in the United Kingdom with kids as young as twelve. Exposing prepubescent children to assertions on topics that they cannot properly understand is nothing but ideological brainwashing. Some parents have complained against this sort of ideological indoctrination, but they have been reprimanded by the judges to whom they had appealed, since these judges could not find anything illegal in promoting something that has been declared legal by the state. The sad conclusion that we are obliged to draw is that something that was supposed to increase people’s freedom is actually used to supress people’s freedom. Furthermore, all those who disagree with same-sex marriage laws or who dare to speak against them are mercilessly attacked by the mainstream media, as well as by hordes of indoctrinated people who are afraid to scrutinize the ideas that they have unwittingly incorporated from the media.
