TOPIC “Some people believe that zoos serve useful functions. Other people believe that it is cruel and wrong to confine animals in zoos .Tell which point of view you agree with and explain why, using specific details and reasons”
First at all, this topic seems to be very controversial and particularly for me it depends on the situation. If animals have to be in captivity for their own safety or not.
Althought we known there are some species in danger of extinction, sometimes people do not care very much about it. For that, Zoos make a crucial role to connect people with wild animals and this ,let them understand how important is to uphold and protect these species. For instance: some species are dissapearing in order to increasing poarchers so promoting campaigns to raise money and ban illegal hunters through zoos in over the world should have an impact on peoples beliefs, specially on children’s minds. Besides, sometimes there are cases in which animals suffer a different types of abuse .For example: They are sold as a pets in very cruel conditions, are abused in circus, etc .And for that reason maybe they can not return to wildlife in order to behavior problems ,disabilities or scars gained.
On the other hand, We all heard cases about abuse in zoos too, sometimes animals can not develop normally in zoos, besides, according to scientific research their life expectancy is lower in captivity. Also Wild animals are going to be wild animals forever and they need to grow up in their natural environment it means sometimes the jungle. For example: there are some feline species which lose their ability to hunt little by litlte and also have behavioral problems for feeling stressed when they are in captivity
In conclusion, there are some advantages to keep animals in zoos like: protecting them from poarches , supporting campaigns to raises fund and ban illegal hunters. However, in some cases animals face drawbacks for being in captivity such as cruelty in zoos , behavioral and physical problems.
