There are people whose more desirable dream is to be famous. The question “why do these people wish to be famous?” has two edges: on one hand, we could ask about the experiences that leaded them to desire that. On the other hand, we could ask what those people want to be famous for. To answer the first question, we need to answer the second one. Therefore, we will focus only in the second question and let put the first’s answer for later.
People want to be famous to have a kind of acknowledge or recognition. When your actions are recognized as valuable, you feel better with yourself, you love more yourself. But when your actions are recognized by a great amount of people, which occurs to famous people, then not only get you the exterior push that triggers selflove, but there is also a feeling of preponderance concerning yourself: you feel special because you have abilities that no one else has. So, in one word, people look for being famous so that they could reinforce their own identity.
Hence, we could think that people who desire to be famous have a poor self-image and need a strong push to rebuild their own identity. It is a problem when you don’t have skills to be recognized, because you could live with a negative image of yourself forever. Now, if we think deeply about it, the problem is not the lack of those skills, but the construction of that kind of identity. Perhaps, if those people had made a positive image of themselves, they would think of doing good their every day tasks, instead of being famous. And then, perhaps, they could develop social recognized abilities that lead them to glory. Fame itself is not a problem, and sometimes it is an inevitable consequence of your actions, the problem is to have fame as the biggest target of your life.
