Essay Topic:"Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Universities should give the same amount of money to their students’ sports activities as they give to their university libraries. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion."
Essay:
GYMS OR LIBRARIES
I think universities should give more money to their students' sport activities because the advantages of doing sports are more than studying in library.
Doing sports develops and enhances students' physical condition. They become healthier individuals by doing sports. There are also mental benefits of sports; as they are doing sports, they tend to get rid of their stress and negative energy and get more positive both mentally and in their personal attitudes. Moreover, some sports make an excellent environment for teamwork. Students doing these kinds of sports are more inclined to achieving some goals as a team. This also increases their social interaction, so they become more sociable and outgoing. Doing sports in collage also tend to stick as a habit and most of the students continue doing sports in the rest of their lives, which is the long-term aim of the sports instructors and trainers. There is another benefit of sports I should mention: self-esteem. We can observe ourselves that how doing sports increase our self-esteem and perseverance.
On the other hand, I think libraries are getting less useful with every passing day because of the technological advancements, like internet. It's obvious that they are good places to study and do research where students can wander around a huge number of books, but we should ask ourselves if we need so many books to be present nearby to do research anymore. We have internet, and it contains nearly every information we need for academic studies.
