This gate is called Ishikawa-mon. This was built in 1788. and has been designated as an Important National Cultural Property.
This gate is a symbol of Kanazawa castle and played an important part in protecting the castle.
Please take alook at the shape of the gate. The entrance is narrow and the gate comprises first gate and second gate so that enemy forces couldn't all enter at once and the enemy was attacked from three bay windows.
These bay windows are called dropping stones. They open up the bottom plate to drop stones on intruding enemies or throw stones.
