It’s a Wonderful life

The film It’s a Wonderful life was directed by Frank Capra. It stars James Stewart as George Bayley and Henry Travers as Clarence (an angel who wants to win two wings for himself). There are other actors like Donna Red, Georges Bayley’s wife, and Lionel Barrymore, the bad man Henry Potter.

Although the film was nominated in the Oscars prize in five categories: best film, best director, best actor, best edition and best sound, it didn’t win any Oscar.

The film is set in Bedford Falls, an imaginary small town in the 1940s. The film was mainly shot in a studio.

George Bayley is a person who has always wanted to travel, but, for different reasons, he doesn’t do it. Now, he is married, he has three sons and he is director in his own small bank, a property that he inherited from his father.

An awful day, a bank worker loses a big amount of money and George has a lot of problems to get back the money to their clients. George is under pressure and he thinks that maybe everything would be better if he wasn’t born. At this moment, he is thinking about commit suicide.

He goes to the bridge, sees the river and doubts for seconds, and, suddenly, a man falls into the water and George jumps into the river to help him.

A guard helps them to go out from the river, and Clarence, the man who George saved, says that he is an angel and has the mission to help George.

Obviously, George doesn’t believe him and thinks that he is crazy, but when George wishes not to have been born, Clarence gives him his wish.

This way, George is going to see how the life of his family and friends would be if he wasn’t born.

I recommend you It’s a wonderful life because it is a masterpiece and everyone is moved by the film. The story is a lovely tale which shows the good things that human nature has.
