It is a reality that we live in a world that cares so much about beauty and plastic surgeries nowadays are very common. We want to have perfect bodies, faces and be young forever all these beliefs about have excellent physical appearance are linked to the media and press to claim to look good. I believe plastic surgeries are just an illusion because perfection doesn’t exist we are always going to find physical flaws in ourselves. Moreover, we cannot base our self-esteem on physical aspects.
The must frequent surgeries are misshaped nose, big ears and breast argumentation. Also these procedures are very popular and easy to have among teenagers who in my opinion are not mature enough to take a decision and responsibility that an aesthetic surgery implicates. However, plastic surgeries could have positive mental and physical benefits on teenagers who have a real physical problem that is abnormal. For example, girls with large breast usually suffering back pain or psychological awkwardness.
According to the critics teenagers could damage their heath and emotional development in order to have physical perfection. Personally, I agree with critics, physical and emotional maturity must be needed to perform surgeries because sometimes teenagers are unpredictable what they think they like today could be different for tomorrow. Also, trends are changing constantly over time in 2000’s the ideal body was to have very thin bodies without big breast or enormous butts, but now in 2010’s big bottoms and curvy frames are desirable. It is better to keep our physical bodies as natural and unique as we are.
Needless to say that media and press are influencing teenagers with subconscious messages about look good. Surgeons said things like teenagers come with magazines photos of celebrities wanting to be like them. I would say that we are never going to look like someone else, we are totally different human beings and this is precisely what makes us valuables. One solution is emphasized our children the love and acceptance of oneself because we cannot be perfect physically.
To sum up, we cannot increase our self-esteem on physical appearance that is not going to last forever. Cosmetic surgeries cannot promise perfection and the procedures always involve some risks. There have been cases that people die or stayed in a very bad physical condition for having done plastic surgeries. Why do we have to expose ourselves with this sort of surgeries without be needed?
