Dear Sir/Madam, Although the pandemic presents us with many unprecedented challenges, I believe that fundamental rights, such as the right to keep our medical records private and the right to refuse a medical intervention, should be upheld even in the direst of times. The roll out of COVID-status certifications could easily lead to serious human right violations. It would also set a dangerous precedent that could be exploited by unscrupulous people in the future. I believe that employers will use such certifications to refuse to employ those who have not been vaccinated or that they will even threaten employees with dismissal if they refuse the vaccine. It will certainly create a two-tier society in which those who have not been vaccinated will be discriminated against, bullied, and perhaps even physically and verbally attacked. The most vulnerable communities will be the ones that will suffer the most. Therefore, I urge you not to roll out COVID-status certifications and to prevent employers and service providers from enforcing their own version of such certifications. Yours sincerely,
