A little girl died in Korea. She was six years old. The cause of her death was organ rupture. Her stepmother claimed that her older sister, 8 years old, beat her to death. Police took her to a detention center. She was waiting her trial. She has no help. Even her fatehr sided with her stepmother.

Meanwhile her aunt couldn't believe it. She reached out for help. Finally a human rights lawyer volunteered to help her. They went to the court together. Then the court said that the girl did not need a lawyer. She had a prosecutor and that was enough.

Long story to short, eventually and fortunately the human rights lawyer could help her. It turned out that her stepmother abused both the girls. She often beat them, poured hot water over them, push them down the stairs, and etc. She did all the horrible things to them. Eventually she beat the six year old girl to death. Then she forced the eight year old girl to confess that she killed her sister. In the end, thanks to the human rights lawyer, the girl was exonerated. Then the stepmother was sentenced for 20 yeras and the father received 7 years.

Can you believe that Korean court denied the right to have a lawyer for her? The court is supposed to arrange a public lawyer for her s8nce she has no help. But they denied the volunteered lawyer. Can you also believe Korean police believed that 8 year old girl beat her younger sister to death until her organs were completely ruptured? When I read the news, I almost couldn't finish reading it because it was so painful ,so cruel, and so UNFAIR. The girl knew that her stepmother killed her only sister. Then she was about to sent to jail for the sake of the killer. I can't even think how she felt about all those nonsense around her. Maybe she was too little to fathom all the complicated situations. Korean law system has severe defects.
