The Little Prince went to see the roses again. “You are not like my rose. You are nothing yet”, he said to them. “You haven’t been domesticated and you haven’t domesticated anyone. You are like my fox used to be. He was just a fox like thousands of other foxes, but I made him my friend and now he is unique among all the foxes”. The roses became angry. “You are beautiful, but you are void”, he continued. “It is impossible to die for you. A common passer-by might think that you are just like my rose, but she is more important than all of you put together. She is the one I have watered.  She is the one I put behind a folding screen. She is the one whose caterpillars I killed. She is the one I heard complaint, boast, and even be silent. She is my rose”. Then the Little Prince went to see the fox. “Goodbye”, he said. “Goodbye”, replied the fox, and he added “Here is my secret: the essential things are invisible to the eyes. Men have forgotten this truth, but you must not forget it. The time you have spent taking care of your rose has made her unique to you. The time you have spent with me has made you unique to me. Now, after you are gone, I'll keep seeing your face inside my mind. These fields of hay meant nothing to me before I met you, but from now on I'll remember your hair everytime I see the hay fields rocking under the wind."
