We often hear people feds up about traffic jams when they go to the city center by car as well as they went mad to find a space to park it. Nevertheless, the mob still use private transportation to arrive exhausted and miserable for their jobs. Why? Could the government do it something about it?
First and foremost the city desperately needs superior services and infrastructures, following more access from the motorway instead of just a narrow and crowded road. The lack of high-quality public transport is a nightmare, to demonstrate you only have to take the 9 trains to the centre. If you are lucky, you will travel in a sardine can, if not you will miss the train because there is not any space left and you would have to call you boss to say that you are arriving late.
Secondly, Not only the city needs better services, citizens should be conscious of the consequences of daily using cars, like polluted atmosphere, waste of energy and the awful environment. with this in mind the administration should launch marketing campaigns to lure people prefer public transport than a private one.
Taking everything into consideration, I believe that it is time to find a real solution for the collapse of the centre. Campaigns are valid but more than that money is needed to spend on a extend and more frequent public transport. I realise that Rome was not built in a day, but also procrastination is the thief of time and former administrations overlook that problem which we are facing now.
