Pier Mondrian was born in the Netherlands, however, NYC was its place of inspiration where he could manifest the outlook of his artwork and movement called "De Stijl" as a reflection of modern society. This layout shows how his work still presents with four basic zoning districts; Residence (R), Commercial (C) and Manufacturing (M), and Parks (P). Manhattan is contemplated from different neighborhoods trying to correlate the patterns of the distribution of zoning districts with his famous painting: "Composition II in red blue and yellow"
