I am going to talk about the notion of Myths and Heroes, first of all i would like to give a definition of the myth and the hero.

On the one hand, a myth can be defined as a story about gods or hereos, it can be a popular belief, or a tradition or a false notion.

On the other hand, a hero can be a methological figure, or a person with superhuman qualities, or an icon, a movie star, a singer, or else...., or again it can be a person who is admired for his courage and for his achievements.

I would like to illustrate this notion through the theme of proffessionnal careers.

I will concentrate on the two videos we watch and the nine portraits of famous people.
I will start to talk about theses famous people, then i will talk about the video called «  The Best Job In The World » and the « The Monica's job Interviews »
Thanks to these documents we may answer the question : «  What myths do we find in the world of work ? »

First, I will talk about the nines portraits of famous people, there are Emma Watson, she is an actress and she became famous when she was young, JK Roling, she has written Harry Potter. The famous singer, Katty Perry, the arrow Usain Bolt, he is a champion an athlete, a runner, or again Bill Gates, the CEO of Microsoft.

We have again Gandhi, he led India towards independence, but I will no more talk about him yet. Because of the fact he was not a career-driven

Theses persons are famous person because all of them achieved something during their life, they are a career-driven, unlike Gandhi, and sometimes thez became rôle models.

To be successful they need to have faith in themselves, they need to be talented or skilled. In my opinion, the more important is the fact they need to be very motivated, and self-confident

Finaly, I have admiration for theses people because they proves that the work is always rewarded but, don't you think that this first document suggests that it must be famous to be successuf... this is one of myths we find in the world of work.
In my view to be successful, a man needs to have the job he wants, with a reasonable salary and of course a lot of paid holidays.

There is a relationship between the Interview with Monica and Mr. Rastatter, and the advertise for the Best Jobs in the World in Australia, both of them are a relevant illustration of the differents myths we find in the world of work.

The first one, is the Official Trailer of the best jobs in the world, it was presented by Ben Southall the winner of TBJITW 2009. In this short video, he shows the 6 contracts he can distribute. The thing is he don't want to bring labour-force but he uses this compaig in order to advertise Australia. He want to make a buzz and boost toursime.
The jobs don't required great skills, the salary is amazing, and the task is simple. In fact, the winners will only have to write a blog, in the same order : boost toursime.

Hundreds of thousands people follow the compétition on the internet, ome of them will want to spend their holidays in Autralia. And, this is the real goal of this compétition.
I think, it's a great idéa, this new way to advertise is so original, morever, I suppose, this way is more cheap and brings more tourists than TV advertise.

The myth we meet in this video is : a perfect face of the world of work. Unlike the first document, the successful seems easier to reach

The Second one, is an extract from a famous tv series, Friends. In this extract we can see Monica and Mr.Rastatter. First, when we see the office we thinks it's a long-standing company, because of the numerous items, like the computer. And there are a framed diplomas hang on the wall.

Monica looks serious and modern because she dressed both consrvatively and fashioably. Mr.Rastatter looks eccentric, he used a quite lame humour, but he is too serious, he sounds very excited enthusiatic about his product, a chocolate subsituate

During the extract, monica eating the chocolate but it not hasn't been accepted by the Food and Drug Administration yet. Maybe it dangerous health.

But she needs the job, we know that because she accept this job whereas she don't like the product.
I really like the facial expression of Monica when she eat the chocolate, after that we know she is lying to be hired

The extract denounce the fact that the jobs seekers often have to swallow their pride, forget their principles. For exemple, they need to lie, or to be hypocritical if they disagree with the job offrer.
Because otherwie they are not hired.
Contrary to the first video, this extract shows the bad face of the world of work.

To conclude, we can find some myths in the world of work, like the fact that we need to be famous to achieve somethings, or to be successful... or again to be happy. Like the fact that the world of work is not good for the job seekers, because they need to forget their principles, or again like the fact that there is the best jobs in the world.

I disagree with this idea, because each person want somethings different that the others men, for exemple a man want to be famous, an other want to be rich, an other want to be a part-timer, an other want to be a CEO...

So i think it doesn't exist 1,2 or 6 bests job in the world, but more.
