- Hi, I’d like to ask you a question. - Shoot! - Why do you want to learn Norwegian?, I mean, it is not a language that is widely used, Why not French or German instead? - Well, I’m not trying to learn Norwegian, I can speak in Norwegian, let me tell you. When I was about 17 I got affiliated to the AFS, have you heard of AFS? - No, it is the first time I’ve heard of it - AFS stands for American Field Service, if you affiliate to the AFS, you can have the opportunity to travel to a foreign country and get immerse in the life and culture of that country and at the same time you can share your culture with them. - That sounds great. - Yes, in the beginning is a little difficult because you have to adapt to different ways of thinking, a different language but it have many benefits too, when I went to Norway it taked me six months to learn Norwegian. - Wow, that was fast - Yes, because you have to adapt, when you arrive to a foreign country they won´t stop doing what they usually do just because you have arrived, and besides Norwegian and English share the same roots, they both belong to Germanic Languages. -That’s a good point. Please help me to correct this, if you have some suggestions on how to express the same idea with different words they are welcomed.
