I’m still studying in University for a bachelor’s degree in journalism. I have a plan for after I graduate here. Improving myself is the best way to achieve it. My prime plan is to continue my studies for a master’s degree in England.

I realise that, to live and study in the UK requires more fees due to the cost of living there. I’ve read an article that says London is one of the most expensive places to live in the world after Tokyo. So that’s why I need a scholarship to make it.

To get a scholarship is impossible without the requirements. Particularly, I need  job experience for a master degree scholarship. I need to get a job first. It will be great if I could get a job at The Jakarta Post (the largest English language newspaper in Indonesia) or another well-known media even if it is the newspaper, TV channel, or radio media to improve my English skill.

I will do my job for a year while I look for a scholarship. I hope that I could get the scholarship in a year also. “If you want to continue studying for a master’s degree, you don’t have to study journalism again because journalism is a general and wide science. You have to focus on what you want, maybe politics, law, anthropology, sociology, or another,” one of my lecturers said when I was in Literature Journalism class. Probably, I will study English Literature but focus on linguistics.

In the past, I rarely like to write some stories or news. But now, I have gotten used to it and I feel like I quite like writing. All of my assignments are not far from writing. At this 6th semester I have had to write feature news or literature journalism and radio news. It is not like before, writing straight news or online news. They all have differences and characteristics about how to write them. Commonly, feature news is longer and more detailed than straight news.

Well, I’m interested to study English literature for my master’s degree. But who knows, it is still unpredictable. If I have a chance to study or work overseas and be professional, it will be amazing. One thing for sure is, I still want to study.
