For success in a future job, the ability to relate well to people is more important than studying hard in school.
Answer:
In our competitive society nowadays, most people hope they could be more successful, create more value for the society and a better life for their family and themselves. However, we can see, in fact, not everyone can acheive their career goals. So we have to ask, what ability plays a more significant role in our careers, interpersonal skills or knowledges? Based on my personal experience, I believe the former can definitely help more.
In the first place, interpersonal skills can make the people who work together with you accept you and like you, which, we all know, is the cornerstone for the development of your career. Firstly, today we usually work in a team, if you can get along with your team members very well, that would be the firm foundation to promote your team's efficiency and performance. Secondly, if you can maintain a good relatinship with your superior, there is no doubt that he or she would have inclination to assign you more important work, which means you will get more opportunity to present your ability and hone your working skills. Furthermore, if you deal with the relationship clients very well, you would have more chance to create more value for the company.
In addition, more important is that the great interpersonal skills is essential to be a good leader. In most cases, success means to be promoted to a leader position. A wise leader does not do everything by himself, but organize, coordinate and manage various of resources and direct his team to accomplish numerous tough tasks in an efficient way. All this requires the leader to be blessed with strong soft skills to take care of all kinds of human relationship.
Taking all this into consideration, I strongly recommend that young men, especially students in schools, should pay more attention to develop their skills to deal with the people around.
