OUR FIRST TEACHERS

When a child is born, his/her parents are the first people who s/he comes to know about. S/he observes them, imitates them and learns from them. His/her parents are the first teachers of his/her life. But it's a difficult question whether they are the best.

Parents pass their good sides to their children as well as the bad ones. They pass these traits not only biologically, but also with the education they give. A person's character, his professional career and his personal life are mostly affected by how s/he has been raised. If his/her parents weren't good enough at parenting, that person may not change some of his bad sides all his life. 

A person is recognized most by their parents, maybe more than even their spouses. Our parents are our best critics in a way. They are the best people to know our strengths and weaknesses. With the mutual thrust and love between parents and their children, one can say that they are the most motivated teachers of their children. But this love can be detrimental in a person's upbringing. Parents may turn a blind eye to either positive or negative sides of their children. Therefore, their children may become grown-ups with either a lack of self-esteem or an abundance of self-confidence. Both examples are not desirable.

If parents approach to their children with the required consciousness of parenthood, they may become their best teachers. On the other side, a parent may be the worst damaging factor in their children's lives if they lack the required specifications.
